People often ask me how I became a meditation teacher, breath coach, yoga teacher, Ayurveda educator, and Chakradance facilitator.
My answer is always the same:
I didn’t start with wellness.
I started with dance.
As a young girl growing up in Taiwan, I trained in Chinese Opera and later discovered ballroom and Latin dance. Movement became the language through which I expressed myself, challenged myself, and learned about life. After moving to the United States, I continued performing and competing with professional dance partners before eventually opening my own ballroom dance studio in Silicon Valley. Looking back, movement has been my teacher for as long as I can remember.
From the outside, my life looked successful. I was doing what I loved and helping others do the same.
Yet something inside me was still searching.
Like many people, I spent years trying to become more—more accomplished, more knowledgeable, more successful. I believed that if I worked hard enough and achieved enough, I would finally feel complete.
What I didn’t realize was that I wasn’t looking for more.
I was looking for a way home.
Over time, life began introducing me to new teachers and new paths. Yoga taught me how to listen to my body. Meditation taught me how to sit quietly with myself. Breathwork showed me that every breath carries the possibility of a new beginning. Ayurveda helped me understand that true well-being comes from living in harmony with nature rather than fighting against it.
Each practice offered something valuable, but the greatest gift was awareness.
I began to notice how often I was living on autopilot. I noticed how much energy I spent worrying about what other people thought. I noticed how easily I could become disconnected from my own inner wisdom.
Slowly, I learned a different way of living.
Instead of constantly asking, “What should I do next?”
I began asking, “What feels true?”
Instead of pushing harder, I learned to pause.
Instead of forcing life to unfold according to my plans, I began listening more deeply.
The more I listened, the more I discovered that the answers I was searching for had been within me all along.
Today, movement is still an important part of my life.
I walk.
I stretch.
I dance in my living room.
Sometimes I sit quietly in meditation.
Sometimes I write in my journal.
Sometimes I simply watch the sunrise and listen.
These practices may look simple, but they continually bring me back to myself.
They remind me that life is not a race to be won. It is a dance to be experienced.
People often see the certifications after my name and assume that my journey is about becoming a teacher.
For me, it has always been about becoming a student of life.
Every challenge has taught me something.
Every relationship has taught me something.
Every loss, every joy, every unexpected turn has become part of the dance.
Today, at sixty-three years old, I no longer feel the need to have all the answers.
I trust the process more than I did before.
I listen more than I did before.
And I continue learning every day.
That is why my personal motto has become:
Why walk when you can dance with life?
I am still learning.
Still loving.
Still becoming.
And I am still dancing with life.
