Everything that happens is a lesson to help you move into your greater self.
To change a negative into a positive, we must have the will to let go of a limited perspective and embrace a larger view of life. It takes a conscious shift to become aware of the higher good happening in life and around us.
Negative Thinking is a Bad Habit
It is common to hear people complain and constantly talk about being a victim. We have all heard the narrative when someone goes on and on about all the negative things that have happened to them. Most of the chat in restaurants, on public transport, and in public places centres around what is wrong and bad in life.
The mass media, including news channels, newspapers, and social media, regularly communicates a feeling of doom that pervades mental images and emotions. In many countries, there is often an emphasis on what is wrong.
As humans, we respond to certain kinds of messages. As a whole and in our separate nations, most of us react to the negative messages broadcast. Especially the ones that warn of pending gloom and trigger fear. Many people respond to fear. Humans have, for the most part, collectively decided that fear works for change more effectively than hope.
There is still a mass underlying belief that the outer world is more important than the inner world. There are underlying beliefs in scarcity and a sense that there is not enough for everyone. These are underlying causes of competition and power struggles.
Break the Thinking Habit
Pause and Take a Breath
Take a step back and observe yourself from a larger perspective.
- To what extent am I influenced by the media?
- Are the messages I receive based on fear or hope?
- How does the media influence my thoughts?
- How does the media influence my emotions?
- How much does the media influence my actions?
- Do I tend to see the negative or the positive in a situation?
- Observe the media and social media you follow and the books you read.
- Do they use positive words?
- Do they lift my energy or pull it down?
- Do they plant negative images in my mind?
- I am free to choose what I read and hear.
- No one makes me do anything.
- I use my freedom and will to create the highest, supportive environment.
- I tune into myself and my higher mindset.
Polarities
The general human obsession with what is wrong and bad has its roots in the system of polarities. The narrow view that something is either good or bad, positive or negative, and up or down.
To see all situations, people, and events from a positive perspective, we need to rise out of the mass thought forms and enter the higher levels of energy.
To change negatives into positives is part of the transformation to consistently believe in higher good.
Turn the Tide and Walk the Path of Joy and Hope
In many ways, the past acts like an anchor until we acknowledge, release, and let go of our negative beliefs or memories.
Pause and Take a Breath
- Do I have regret over the way I handled past relationships?
- Do I harbour feelings of being let down?
- Do I have old hurts deep inside?
Transformation
- I see the gifts that people had for me.
- I see the good I did for others.
- I reflect on a past relationship and hold myself in the moment.
- I reflect on the age we were when we had our troubles and hold the energy of our relationship as it was.
- I rise above the pain of that moment and transmit forgiveness and love to this person and situation.
- By doing this, I heal the person, myself, and our past.
- I set us free.
- This healing takes place in the past and present.
- I erase any projection of negative patterns into the future.
- I hold constant peace and love for myself and all beings.
Reframe to Optimism
In most cases, our emotional and mental bodies are younger than our spiritual ones. Easily caught in dense and sometimes dark energy.
As we awaken and transform on this journey, we look around at our family, friends, colleagues, and society. We see the ways they are speaking and behaving. We observe how other people learn about their energy and where they are on their journey.
Once we recognise the negative beliefs of the masses, we can choose whether to agree with them and decide if we want to live by them.
For those making a conscious shift and rising to see the higher perspective, it is a new time of communication, hope, and optimism. Our intention is to allow our joy to help us bring optimism and hope to the emotional and mental atmosphere, both around us and to the world. We are at the forefront of the new thought forms.
The emotional body has the most to gain from reframing everything into the positive. Each time we say a negative word to ourselves or make ourselves wrong, it changes the vibration of the emotional body, and this continues into our energy and physical body. It affects the mind, and our energy drops. When this happens, our magnetism changes. We attract people and events that amplify this negative energy.
Release Your Past by Loving It
Most of us have held negative images about our past behaviour or past selves. Of course, we all know that our past experiences contribute to who and where we are now.
As we open and awaken, we sometimes have a temptation to look back at the past with regret. We think, “If only I had done this, said that, handled things differently.”
It is important to enlarge our scope of vision, step outside our present time, and view life’s journey as a whole rather than as a series of unconnected events.
Pause and Take a Breath
- I stand above and view my entire life.
- I see my life from a higher perspective.
- I see the flow of events as a whole.
- I move out of the emotional body.
- I move beyond the mental body.
- I shift into my spiritual body.
- My conscious mind sees the larger picture.
- I see and embrace all my lessons with joy.
- I see my whole life positively.
- I reframe into the positive.
We all have occasions when we look back to a time when something happened that we did not understand and did not get what we wanted. The key is to rise to a higher level and see from an expanded viewpoint. From here, it is easier to understand precisely why that incident was part of the journey and what the lesson was.
Pause and Take a Breath
- Reflect on an experience that did not go according to plan.
- Was there a reason for not having things the way I wanted?
- Would having things my way have held me back?
- Was it a smaller, less evolved part of me that wanted it?
- In what positive way did the actual outcome change my life?
Learn to Grow Through Joy
As we walk the healing and awakening path, it is important to remember that you cannot leave or move on from something until you love it. Each time you have a negative memory that makes you feel sorry for yourself or feel bad about the way you acted, if you feel like a victim or hold a negative image of yourself, STOP!
Pause and Take a Breath
- What was the good created from that experience?
- What did I learn?
- Did I allow that behaviour back into my life?
- How did it change my path?
- What important new connections did it bring?
- What new qualities or traits developed from it?
As we look back at the obstacles along our path, we recognise what helped us develop strength or inner will. To develop physical muscles, we have to use weights. Our parents, teachers, and employers often act as “weights” for us to push against so we can grow stronger emotionally and mentally. We need to push against a different kind of weight to develop a core inner strength and spiritual strength.
Sometimes, we create problems to use as “weights” to push against. This helps to draw positive results, people, and situations and form a pattern of positivity so we face circumstances with strength rather than panic and turn it into a crisis.
As I reflect on my journey, one particular incident comes to mind. From eleven to eighteen, I attended an old-fashioned Girls’ Grammar School. I was never the most confident pupil. On a wet Thursday afternoon, the gym instructor had not turned up at the school. There was no other teacher available to replace her. We were seventeen, so the school decided we were mature enough to work without supervision. I had an appointment with one of my teachers and was late joining the class. As I ran up the steps to the netball court carrying a large ball, I noticed several boys around the same age flirting with my friends over the wall. As I approached, the boys looked nervous, then turned and walked away. Am I so hideous that boys turn away from me? Then I noticed my friends were laughing. “They thought you were the teacher!” “What?” “Well, you have that authority about you.” “Really?” That was a new concept to me. I had an aura that made boys nervous. What fun!
Once we take responsibility and attune our awareness to higher thoughts. It is easier to create joyful images in the mind. We can raise the vibration of the emotional and mental bodies.
Remember, ‘like attracts like.’ We need people around us who contribute to and share the higher energy and feelings.
Sharing Love with Others
If you recognise the people you know are constantly depressed, bitter, or angry. If they are generally in a negative emotional state, it may be time to question your reasons for being around them.
Once we have begun our transformation to see life from a higher vantage point, we become wiser and more expanded. Problems are more easily solved and can be seen as something that we simply do not yet have a solution for. Problems create a focus of attention.
Most of us repeat habits and patterns in relationships, regardless of who we are with.
We must be willing to release those patterns to discover new ways of connecting, deepening positive ties, and forming healthy relationships.
We often focus on something that we see as wrong with another person. It can make the perceived fault even larger and blow it out of proportion. It can diminish the positive in the relationship and cause it to go downhill.
Pause and Take a Breath
- I do not need to convince others that I am right.
- I do not need to believe others are right.
- I focus away from what I see as different or wrong in others.
- I accept other people’s worldviews.
- I am willing to see the good in others.
- I help others to see a situation positively.
- I help others to see how much they are growing.
- I help others to create their higher purpose.
- I focus on bringing out the good in people.
- I see the beauty in others.
- I tell others only about the positive I see in them.
- I do not need to do anything other than love.
It is a habit for many of us to point out to others how they are bad or wrong. When we do this, it causes insecurity and creates and enlarges existing problems. It is fruitful to tell everyone how good they are and help them to recognise how much they are growing.
Positive Growth Exercise
Think of someone you have felt critical about recently.
What do I criticise in myself that is the same as what I criticise in this person?
What do I criticise in myself that I see as opposite in this person?
Think of a time you did the same thing you criticised another person for.
What traits and habits do I have that I am criticising someone for?
Think of a time when you felt warm and loving.
As you flow into this feeling, begin to think of the person you are criticising.
How do you feel towards them as you view them with this warm, loving feeling?
See this person through loving, compassionate eyes and allow the love to flow through your heart to them.
As you see this person with love and compassion, you begin to forgive yourself.
Hold onto the warm, loving feeling.
Think about what you have criticised yourself for.
Allow the warm, loving feeling to flow towards your own behaviour and negativity.
Move forward with positivity, love, compassion, forgiveness, and freedom.
To change the negative into the positive, remember that everything in your life happens for a reason. Believe the universe is friendly, that it is always helping you to create your highest good, and that by shifting your awareness, you can live a life of peace, harmony, and security both now and in the future.
