Meditation is your deepest source of inner strength and power.
Meditation helps you to break down the rock-hard wall of inner resistance to opening to your truth. It shows the way to peace and joy, love and light, and opens you to the guidance to help you orient life with ease.
We live in a chaotic world full of disappointments, anguish, and heartache. Our worldly self often has a blinkered vision as we navigate the uncharted waters of life. We become so absorbed in the world system, following a journey that is hit and miss and full of wishful thinking. We have forgotten who our real self is.
When we begin to meditate, the door opens so that we can look beyond the busy world mind and see who we truly are. It enables us to fulfil the purpose of our true self.
Meditation gives you a clear and certain way to get where you want to be, and where you are supposed to go, rather than relying on input from the outside world.
Where Am I With Meditation?
Pause and take a breath
This is only for you, so be honest when you answer these questions.
I do not meditate.
I find meditation hard.
I meditate occasionally.
I meditate often.
I meditate regularly.
I meditate every week.
I meditate every day.
I meditate several times a day.
My meditations are ten minutes or less.
My meditations are thirty minutes.
I meditate for at least an hour each time.
Meditation makes you face yourself; the good, the bad, and the ugly. It gives you the opportunity to tap into your deepest source of strength and power. It allows you to cut through the blockages, limitations and trappings that limit you in living life to the full. Both your worldly life and your spiritual life.
Down here on earth, most people are fragmented. They are short-sighted and concentrate on survival and competition. In this state, they are incapable of seeing the bigger picture. When we meditate, we can rise above the downward pull of the world and begin to clear and heal the fragments. We can see life as a whole.
Where Do I Start?
Pause and take a breath
I focus on my breath.
It is a warm sunny day.
The sun is shining down on me.
A soft breeze blows across my face and body.
I am standing by a crystal clear, still lake.
I step into the cool water.
The essence of the water soothes and refreshes me.
I have a new sense of relief and ease.
I take a few steps and feel the water around my ankles.
I turn and slowly walk out of the lake.
I emerge, invigorated.
I am renewed.
I have a new inspirational perspective on life.
Connect With Daily Life in a Meditative Way
Reflect for a moment on something you remember that brings you peace and joy.
A dawn chorus.
The wind in the trees.
A still, clear lake.
The silence when you can hear a pin drop during a play or movie.
A beautiful piece of music.
A beautiful piece of art.
An inspiring poem.
A pretty flower.
A child’s smile.
To meditate is to experience the elation of a thousand of these moments that are filled with peace and joy all at once, and hold them in your heart and soul.
Meditation connects all the different parts of you. The scattered fragments gather and begin to melt together again.
Meditation is your tool to regain perfect balance and maintain a state of inner harmony. When you meditate regularly, you do not rush into your day feeling that the world is dictating to you. You simply flow with the world in from a place of peace.
Prepare to Meditate
Meditation serves us in different ways, but the key to meditation is your preparation.
This is my time.
Create a safe, clean, comfortable space. One that works for you.
Make sure you will not be disturbed. Put devices on silent.
Be consistent. Short meditations at the same time each day help to create a habit.
Posture
Posture is vital when you meditate.
Scan your body for any tension.
Open your body and stretch a little. Go for a five-minute walk. Do what is right to help your body feel relaxed but alert.
Try not to eat a heavy meal beforehand. This will take the energy from your mind and brain into your digestive system and you may become sleepy.
Sit on a chair or the floor with your back straight. Use cushions to support your back, pelvis, and knees.
Pause and take a breath
A thread is connected to the crown of my head and pulls me up.
I reach up as high as I can.
I will now reach the highest part of myself that I can touch today.
Nothing will stop me.
I take this time for myself to heal and grow.
As I heal and grow, I have more to offer others.
Shift The Focus
The human mind is busy. We all know this. It continues to run around itself, even when we are asleep or unconscious.
It takes time to stop random thoughts and sensations from intruding into your mind. The key is to let them flow to the background or the sidelines without struggling to focus on one thing.
Hold a gentle focus, and the passing thoughts can remain in the periphery. This way, they will not bother you.
With time and practice, the leaping thoughts subside and become less intrusive.
Going Deeper
Meditation can link you directly to a higher consciousness. It can help you to have a happy life because it enables you to change the negative subconscious patterns that are hidden deep within your mind and body.
Meditation helps you receive clear insights. You can express the essence of your own deep, spiritual awakening.
Whatever your chosen spiritual path, you must adopt a solid system to hold your mind as you meditate.
People from many belief systems can follow the same system whilst connecting with deities and expanding into numerous higher energies and frequencies.
As your meditation becomes easier, you can connect to Love and the Light. At this stage, your inner light begins to expand. When it becomes bright, you can utilise it to cut through all your inner darkness, judgement, self-hatred, and attack, and to cut through all your deepest fears and doubts.
When I first began to meditate, I found it challenging. My hips and back were stiff, and my mind would leap around; I knew I was somewhere in my head rather than truly meditating and expanding upwards.
One day, I began to see colours and felt what I could only describe at the time as ‘A body buzz!’
Later, a huge tiger with glittering sapphire eyes would sit with me as I struggled to meditate. It seemed that he supported me at the time. He eventually left, but by then I had begun to focus more easily and could feel an inner and upward pull.
With practice, I connected with the Divine feminine and masculine. I felt a huge calling to Buddhist and Vedic teachings and a new connection to the Divine deities. Green Tara was my feminine saviour for many years. “What is this power surging through me, I see her, I remember, I connected with her before.” She has guided and saved me many times and throughout many lifetimes.
A few years ago, when I was on a yoga retreat, I felt a powerful connection with Ganesh, the Hindu elephant god, the Protector and Remover of Obstacles. When driving home, as I approached awkward junctions, I chanted his mantra and witnessed the traffic move aside like the ‘Parting of the Red Sea.’ The roads opened up for me.
Ganesh is very accessible, and you can call upon him for help in your meditations and life. He is a good place to start.
Here are two examples of Ganesh mantras.
“Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha”
“Om Jai Ganesh Ganapayate Namaha”
Om I bow to Lord Ganapataye, the remover of obstacles.
Om I bow to the Lord of the multitudes.
The Ganesh mantras are powerful when you need to seek blessings. His energy removes obstacles and helps you achieve success. He is a great help, both in spiritual life and daily life.
Going Higher
Meditation helps you rise above all of your fears and darkness. The goal is to reside almost constantly in nothing but love and light.
Once meditation has helped you to raise your consciousness, you need to train yourself to focus your mind to gain maximum benefit from your meditations.
As your meditation becomes consistent, you gently focus your mind on the beauty of nature and the power of the light. This helps you create dynamic peace in your mind and heart.
Meditation assists in cultivating strong, bright internal energy that expands consciousness. After cultivating your meditation for some time, you should find that as you sit and meditate, your mind becomes calm and alert simultaneously.
When we first begin to meditate, it is a way to relax or to tune away from the challenges of the world. Genuine meditation is not about this; it is for your soul. It is to liberate your core being. You continue to raise your consciousness until you know without a shadow of a doubt that you are a soul rather than a personality self.
You are a multi-faceted being.
When your body, breath, mind, and emotions align with your heart, meditation becomes effortless.
To Connect Your Body, Heart and Mind
Feel your breath flow in and out.
Bring your awareness to your feet and allow any tension to flow away on your out breath.
Gradually, your awareness rises upwards. It moves up your legs, hips, and along your spine.
Let your awareness flow up your arms and into your shoulders.
It continues up your neck, to your head and face.
On your out breath, let any tension go.
Be aware of a blue white diamond light above your head.
It flows down through your crown.
Let this misty, blue light permeate your body.
Be aware of any emotions you are experiencing.
Gently pull the emotions together.
Hold the energy of these emotions as if they are molecules in the blue mist.
As you hold them, affirm to yourself:
“As I know my emotions, I allow them to become still. I free myself of them.”
Feel the peace and beauty of the calmness of being still.
Now, a soft golden light pours down through your crown.
It flows into your heart.
From your heart, it flows through your whole body.
Your body is full of soft golden light.
The golden light transforms the blue misty light.
Golden light permeates every cell and every molecule.
You are completely golden light.
You are silent and still.
You are at peace.
Listen only to the silence.
Your golden, silent heart emits an inner smile.
The smile permeates your physical body, emotions and mind.
You are connected to the deeper, higher aspect of your truth.
Slowly allow the golden smile to awaken your body and move gently.
The golden smile touches your lips and you open your eyes to joy, peace, love and light.
Meditation is a step-by-step process. You patiently sharpen your consciousness and become fully alive. It is worth it when you can tap into your deep inner strength and wisdom to find the ultimate solution to all your problems and become a super-creative, flowing force of love and light in the world.
